Eating Out

Whether you are looking for excellent freshly prepared food using local ingredients, innovative menus or a fine dining experience; you will find it all within a short drive from The Barn.

Our two local pubs are both dog-friendly! Both offer a warm & friendly welcome whether you are going for dinner for a quick drink after a muddy walk. The Black Lion in Abergorlech is just a mile from The Barn; a lovely 16th century former coaching inn that offers great value home-cooked food. There is a picturesque beer garden overlooking the River Cothi where you can enjoy a drink or a meal on sunny days. It is a wonderful friendly pub that our guests always recommend. The Forest Arms in Brechfa (3 miles) offers a delicious menu featuring Welsh steaks, tasty quiches, home-made Welsh gourmet burgers & always home-made chips! Their Welsh tapas menu is great for sampling local produce. The local Welsh roasted coffee is highly recommended!

A little further afield is Wright’s Café & Food Emporium (12 miles). Eclectic & quirky! Well worth a visit whether to eat or shop in the delicatessen. One of the café rooms is dog-friendly.

Y Polyn (11 miles) has two AA rosettes, an Egon Ronay star and is featured in the Good Food Guide, Michelin Pub Guide and Alistair Sawday's Guide to Pubs. Excellent food served in a relaxed atmosphere. Not dog-friendly sadly, but if you would like to treat yourself to a hoomans only lunch or dinner, you can always take advantage of our dog-sitting service.

There are many more great local places to eat, drink or indulge in afternoon tea. Ask us for recommendations or check out the information file during your stay at The Barn.
